This started as an elfje and I thought the increased syllable count
of the Cinquain would add more substance to the elfje or I’d be
able to add extra descriptive words. This is my first Cinquain.

This is great. The two forms are surprisingly similar. The cinquain is a form I haven’t tried for a long time, I must have another go. The ‘extra space’ can be an advantage!
siggiofmaine
Libby,
On fbook’s small stones a friend posted a stone “the red dress” in paragraph form,
and I used it to show the different ways of presenting it in poetry. The cinquain
definitely filled the stone out beautifully.
Thanks for the comment

This is a lovely cinquain – richly arrayed with poetic devices. I too await the opportunity for a Spring fling. Thanks for responding to the prompt, Siggi.

Thank you for your nice comment. I am happy I tried it…it seemed daunting at first,
but now I love it.

What a wonderful capture… there’s so much depth in these lines.

Me and canoes don’t get along. I prefer a more stable vessel and a motor!
But, I love this cinquain, Siggi!
Björn Rudberg (brudberg)
Wonderful and I so long for my kayak. but still there are too much solid ice here…
siggiofmaine
Bjorn
Soon it will be “river” time for the canoes and kayaks at least near the ocean in Maine.
The ice fishermen didn’t get the ice they needed in many places, which means it is an
:”easy thaw” this year.

nice…i’m all in for a little canoe tour you know…smiles
siggiofmaine
Claudia,
A canoe person, except to photograph and paint, I’m not. ☺! There are always those
who are willing, tho, to give a willing visitor “the tour”.☺
Thanks for the comment,

You brought images of boats bobbing gaily in the water. Here’s one more reason to hasten spring’s arrival.

That yellow canoe stands out against the old barn. Fine contrast with anticipation of putting it to great use very soon. Nice cinquain.

Ah, another trochee fest!
I am a kayaker — but even I can like a yellow canoe!
Fun!
siggiofmaine
Sabio
I was surprised when I went back that it was a canoe, not a kayak…the preferred mode of water travel … but there are still many who do canoe, and will look for this one in the Canoe Races in the coming weeks.
Thanks for the nice comment,

Sabio Lantz
Yellow should be easy to spot. The trochee was splashy.
siggiofmaine
Ah, Sabio,
I had to look up “trochee”, sigh, and I must admit, after the falling in love with the yellow canoe, I thought, “should be easy to spot” if they dump it !
Thanks ☺
Mary
Very evocative. I can see that canoe; and I look forward to a ‘spring fling’ soon as well. (As soon as the ice melts!)
siggiofmaine
Mary,
If the ice is out of the Bay or lakes, the water lovers are there…the coast is pretty clear here. Behind me, on the river, still ice in places. We’ve had enough melt to declare “mud season” is here !
Thanks for the comments

nice….have you ever read billy collins poem about the boats on the bank…smiles…ha..you should look it up…spring, like those boats hold a lot of promise….nicely done…
siggiofmaine
Brian
Thank you for your nice comments…I need to look up Billy Collins/boats poem. I was the passenger in a car yesterday and the vision just stayed and drove back today…it was no longer florescent like it was when wet, but still a vision to remember.
Peace,
Heaven (@asweetlust)
I too look forward to a spring fling ~ That yellow color is eye-catching ~
Well done on the form ~

siggiofmaine
Heaven,
That yellow just stuck in my mind, I had to have a photo of it to show with the poem.
Thanks for the comment on the form…

I wonder how far the paddlers and the canoe have to go to find the water? A fun feeling cinquain.
siggiofmaine
Rowan Taw…
the ocean is five minutes if that from where I took the photo is Blue Hill Bay then the Pacific Ocean.
Thanks for the wonderful comments.
