Ahhh, you’re in Maine — that explains a LOT. I assumed you were in the Canadian Maritimes. I’m originally from northern New Brunswick, neighbor!!

Whoopee pies, there are not many in the world who know of them, and certainly not too many Americans.
Haven’t had one in years. No pumpkin ones yet, tho.
Hey, I’m in Texas, Austin! Could you please send some — and a crate of Sweet Marie bars, but wait 2 months on the Sweet Maries so they don’t melt in the mail box — THANKS!!! 🙂 🙂

Cin,
I got to taste the omelette…sooo good. a whoopee pie is two large cake-like cookies with a huge glob
of frosting between them. Traditionally, devils food (a dark chocolate cake) cake, and a shortening based frosting…
Monday, on a Cooking Channel show, they said that the Amish ladies made them for the men and put them in the lunch box, and when the men found the cookies, they said “whoopie !”. My daughter moved
to Texas July 2010 and I just sent her an “emergency” supply of her favorite bakers whoopie pies.
My favorite are the “new age” pumpkin w.p….but there are so many wonderful combinations these days.
Thanks for the comment and the question.
