Off in the distance Mount Desert Island can be seen.... low tide when we arrived... area in front will fill in with water before we leave.

At the Silent Movies
.
.
Life was simpler
in the days of
silent movies
.
At the Bijou,
when I was young,
I remember laughing,
Charlie Chaplin on the screen.
Laughing also
at Laurel and Hardy…
(I’m “Oliver” when walking
down the street
with someone slim
to this day,
when our figures
make the number
10 !  )
.
The piano music creating the
mood,
actors wildly pantomiming
the story.
Life was good.
.
Funny was created
in your mind
by the characters on
the screen
as you created the dialogue
and story
by the actions on the
screen.
.
Life was simpler then,
and my guess is less
complicated,
with less demands
for perfection,
just a good time
at the movies.
.
Snidely Whiplash
with the handlebar mustache,
black cape and top hat
with the pretty girl on the Rail Road tracks
always ended the modern day
melodrama cartoons
reminding all of the
villains and hero’s
of the
Silent Movies.
When life was simpler
and the movies were
silent.
