This is this years portrait from the Common Ground Fair. It's an organic fair...all organic food, produce, and well attended by the still hippies and the hippie wanna be's or would be's...I'm in the last group...with lots to write about some day. Lack of courage and backbone. I told a friend, who lives in a very nice house, on a big piece of land on the right side of the tracks, etc etc, that I could never have been a hippie in any sense, ... I liked my showers, clean hair and clothes. And she said: "A lot of us liked the same things and it wasn't a problem." Hmm. The bottom line was my knowing I'd be disowned and never spoken to again.... it happened anyway ! Sigh.

This is me after I shaved my hair off for a fund raiser for a friend and co-worker with cancer. It's before the gray set in but the vanity part shows. The hair had grown to the length of a nice crew cut, but "face on: and "side to" my double chins showed...so I had this "portrait" retaken face up to the sun, chins eliminated !

Mondays and Friday mornings I paint at the Somesville Library. We gather around the table and paint, or set up easels and have a wonderful view of the Mill Pond and Somes Sound. The Sound is tidal and we are blessed with ever changing gorgeous scenery. It is soooo inspiring.
.

On Wednesday we hire a model and paint for two hours, then have lunch. We paint at Parker Ridge Retirement Community at no charge. It is a beautiful place to paint...the activity room is large with good light and a nice view of the campus.
.

Tuesday mornings I meet with a writing group....we have a prompt and write spontaneously ...for five minutes usually. A big part of our day is the hour or more spent at lunch at local restaurants. The group is shy, so the photo is of our meal companions today. This photo also shows my interest in photography...it is said, if it moves I take a photo, if it doesn't move I take a photo !
.

I was going to say I live alone, but then I realize that I don't...my cat, Bianca, has allowed me to live in the same house with her for almost four years.

This painting is a way I focus with art. The title of the painting is "Essence of Merideth" and I had arrived at the portrait group from work and unable to "settle down" and focus on my painting. I did two of these paintings in less than half an hour, the second one being an evergreen with teal acrylic paint. The colors were bright, and the words spoke in the painting that day.
.
Learning to focus when you are “one”
takes concentration and diligence.
I find the need to organize my thoughts more
so I get things completed in an orderly fashion…
like remembering which blog prompts are titled what
and who posts them and then get them posted
on the correct day of the week.!
Two of my devices to help focus are BOLD writing and
C OLOR !
.
So my six word focus is:
focus/regroup/focus/forward/focus/success
