Prompt for 100 word story. Friday Fictioneer.

.

As a youngster my farmer raised dad used to quote to his city raised daughter:
“from little acorns big acorns grow.”  I, of course ignored him, til I was old and
gray, thinking the words silly.  Day late.  Dollar short.

Now in my dotage, they come back to me.  Noticing some plants growing in my
yard, I wondered, “What could these be?”.  Then someone asked if I was growing
a forest, and if I loved to rake leaves.

.
Then I thought, “Maybe I’ll find some  treasure buried there.”

Hmmm.

Gardening Angel.

.
Some people think
that angels hang their halos
and harps up after January 6th
and the arrival of the 3 kings.
I’ve sometimes seen an angel
on earth in a hat, cap or sun bonnet,
their halos and harps neatly
hidden away when a presence
on earth.
.
I happen to believe that angels
hike up their hems and get to
the heavy duty work of life:
humming  holy hymns
as they head to work to heal
wounds in our hearts and souls.
.
Hark !  Can you hear them
as they hum and softly sing,
going about their daily holy chores
watching over us ?
Do you see them in your life,
in the hazy hints that hide
in the thoughts in your head.
.
Hark !  Hear the angels
in your daily world.
They may not appear with halos
and harps, but they are there:
Holding you and others dear,
hiding in homes
and the world around us.
.
Heighten your senses as you
go about your life.
You will see and hear them
working with children,
the frail and elderly,
the ill, the dying, the helpless,
those who feel alone and sad,
the homeless, the hungry.
These are angels who have
a calling, not a job.
.
Do you see or hear them?
They are here around you.
You’ll know who they are if
you listen for the soft humming
of their voices and wings.
Help is on the way,
for those in need.
.
Hark !    Hear and see angels
at work in your world.
