“Who’s Sorry Now”
do we remember the song…*
angst and pain
of the teens of the era.
singing along to the song.
.
Can you relate ?
You’ve unloaded the dud.
Someone else is now in your place,
you thank the heavens,
it’s not you…
that’s my take on the phrase:
“Who’s Sorry Now !”

Who’s Sorry Now by Connie Francis ©1958
Who’s sorry now
Who’s sorry now
Who’s heart is aching for breaking each vow
Who’s sad and blue
Who’s crying too
Just like I cried over you
Right to the end
Just like a friend
I tried to warn you somehow
You had your way
Now you must pay
I’m glad that you’re sorry now
Right to the end
Just like a friend
I tried to warn you somehow
You had your way
Now you must pay
I’m glad that you’re sorry now

From back in poetry month: Robert Lee Brewer Prompt:
For today’s prompt, there are actually two options, because it’s Tuesday, which means a “Two for Tuesday” prompt. They are:
- Write an apology poem, or.
- Write an unapologetic poem.

Smiles. Of course I remember it and now it will go through my heard for the rest of the day!
joanna

Great song Siggie. Yes, sometimes we are sorry for playing with other people’s hearts. Some don’t care less though. I suppose that’s what makes us humans, human.
Nice one Siggie.

I love that song and the way she sang it…heartbreaking.
charlesmashburn

Oh, and I forgot, I knew you didn’t know my musical preference, kind of just was being fun, but seriously I used to live in Maine, well virtually live, worked there 7 months a year, in OOB, Saco, Gorham, Portland and Freeport, really enjoyed my time there for the most part, always wanted to go more north for longer though, as the land north of Augusta I always found nice on those weekends I could travel, actually saw a moose once too. Thanks for stopping by too.

Hobgoblin,
I went back and found your bio…you have a rich and varied of likes, ideas and interests.
Downeast Maine is probably too laid back for you at this time in your life…I live in Ellsworth, half way between Bangor and Bar Harbor. A group of seniors that want to continue exploring our interests have found each other…in our youth and middle years, we probably would not have shared a lot a time together, we were too busy working, earning a living, and raising our families. I am “from away”…the mid West, two are natives of Maine…others from varied places including England. We have found we really enjoy hanging around together. That’s the painting group…and the writers group is from away…and around the same age. In this mix a sub group interest is house concerts at the home of a former rocker named Steve Peer…started with Celtic music and now is including zazz, blue grass, pop…all in his living room. I wandered off…you should wander to the Downeast area, and even further north…it is such a varied state.
Thanks for your interesting comments. I enjoyed getting to know a bit about you.
PS…I finally got to see several moose on a trip to Jackman…really a thrill.
Peace,
Siggi in Downeast Maine

That’s a great take on the question. You know, my musical preference is pretty well documented, I have myself to blame for that, as I evangelize my love for all things metal, but, if you promise not to tell anyone, I’ll let you in on a secret lol…I’m a closet Connie fan, have many many of her recordings, on vinyl, which I’ve since converted my favorites onto mp3, as my mother loved her as a kid and I heard her music growing up, so very nice to see this here. Thanks.

Hobgoblin…thanks for stopping by. I think the music we listen to thru our parents stays with us. My mother would sing around the house to Johnny Mathis,
who was current back in the day, and then music from the forties … I didn’t like it then, but has been redone by Rod Stewart and I love the songs. One thing that made me a fan of music of all generations…I don’t like the heavy metal due to being very hard of hearing…it just didn’t set well, but now I have closed caption on my tv and being able to read the words to what people are singing, it makes such a difference to know how creative many musicians are of every genre.
Living in Japan, I learned to love Country Music. I could go on and on about my theories of music appreciation. One last word tho..I worked in a locked ward as a nurse with dementia patients…strokes, brain damage, war injuries, Alzheimer’s and related disorders and I found that people who “only liked” one kind of music in their youth and adulthood, loved any kind of music that was well done. It was amazing.
Thanks for your lovely comments.
Peace,

I’ve always liked this song, Miss Siggi.

you know sometimes it is better…to be free and …you know though roll the bones themselves….they made a decision and they have to live with it…i remember the song…before my time but i have heard it…

Brian,
Thanks for the comment…the songs were silly back then, at least I thought so…I was a bit of a loner and thought all the drama of dating was weird ! Funny looking back and realizing what went thru my mind…maybe that’s why I never “dated” as such and at 20 married someone I met in Jr High and just hung out with him and his girlfriend…she and I are still friends ☺. Their drama was enough … I learned thru osmosis !
Thanks for the comment

Yes I remember this song and we did “sing along” in the car. Liked your poem, played well against the lyrics!
siggiofmaine
I remember my father complaining that my friend, Dawn, and I would try to sing in a higher pitch to the song…drove him bananas and he’d ask us to not screech when we sang !
Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment.

Yes, that’s another take. I would be sorry for that person who takes the dud on though.
Thanks for sharing this. It’s a bit before my time, but the lyrics of the song are familiar. Shall look it up.
siggiofmaine
Ravenblack…
it’s right in my timeline ! I was 14 and at first it took me a while to figure out what the song was about…☺. The mid fifties were not like it is now …
and one persons “dud” is another’s dreamboat !
Thanks for the comment.
Peace,
