Yesterday, I took a Sunday ride to two favorite places to paint.
The first is Curtis Cove, in East Blue Hill, Maine.
There were a lot of changes…a house had been sold, and houses were going up around it.
It was almost high tide at the Curtis Cove beach, one of our favorite painting sites.
What fascinated me most was the group of beef critters, including a small bull calf that
looked like a member of the cast of Phantom of the Opera.
I love the calf, and tho the yellow field flowers disappeared in the blowing grasses,
I am including the photo of the calf…the electric fence has yellow on it !

Then off to Surry, Maine and Newberry Neck.  The beach where I took the photos
Is called the Carrying Place.  It was close to 90 degrees so even with the beach shrinking
due to the incoming tide, there were still people enjoying the beach and water.  What caught
my eye was a young boy and a golden lab that were playing chase the stick in the water.
The boy tired before the dog.

As I was standing there, on the shoulder of the road, wondering if any of the photos would
come out due to the wind that was swiftly blowing the tall grass in front of me,
a lady walked by and said, “Too bad you missed the dog riding in the kayak a bit ago.”
A few minutes later, as if on cue, a man got a kayak out in the water, and the dog climbed
on board.
It appeared that the boy in the yellow life jacket were with the man and the dog…
but I do not have any sure idea.  The area is a close knit community and friends  join in with people
they know.  The boy could have been a friend of he dog or the family  and his family a few umbrellas
away ☺.
