It is always the most fun to be first in line … at least for the kids. As a driver, I always had the fear that somehow I’d miss stopping and end up in the center when the bridge opened !

For the kids, always a thrill to know a drawbridge is ahead…and for the driver, always a thrill to know you got over before it went up or you are finally over it and on the road again. It was usually a long wait and often the traffic was backed up a long way. I love this photo in the rear view mirror … it says so much to me !
