While the weather is still mild most days, road construction kept us stopped for a long time on the short bridge between Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor) and Trenton, Maine. This tree fascinated me, and the longer we sat, the more I decided I NEEDED photos of the unique markings on the trunk.
