My father was a young man in his thirties when I remember the charcoal furnace in the
basement and his explaining about tending it on a cold night so it would not go out.
This photo reminds me that it is not just the young who need to tend the fires to
keep warm during cold days and nights.

I worked as a nurse with the elderly for many years … and one of the ladies
would complain of “cold in my connections”…finally figured out to be her
joints of her arms and legs.

Nor’easter ice storm

Those with alternate heat, such as coal or wood, had a means to stay warm,
heat water, and cook food.)

be creative and share haiku inspired on by Buson.
Buson was, next to his haiku writing, also a painter
and it is he who brought back the haiga.

A haiga is a painting in which haiku and picture
become one.
Here are my haiku to share…am not sure I met the task.
