A friend expressed this sentiment
on New Year’s Eve day.
I put it first and then added the
more cheerful New Year haiku.

A real dead carp, caught by local fishermen

(plus it’s considered lucky in Chinese culture —
to everyone but the fish).
The DOA carp, nicknamed “Lucky”,
has a tree planted where it is buried
with a commemorative plaque
listing the carp’s name and year.”

Thanks Siggi…
For years we had a small sucker – type cat fish – that grew to fit the ten gallon tank – it’s fish name begins with a P but I can’t find it. Well anyway we had it for about ten years along with the ‘fair’ gold fish that we ended up gifting to a friends out door pond, when the cat fish died. Our boys were old enough to want to consciously bury their faithful fishy friend in the side yard. I can only guess that ‘it’ has helped the plants there…
Do let me know when you post your minnow story 🙂

Lucky…We like to tease that frogs and rabbits are lucky when they have all their limbs.
I hadn’t heard of the Carp. Nice though that they plant a tree over it.

I was born and grew up in Wisconsin and it cracked me up…the carp…I had to include it somehow ! If it hadn’t been soooo cold…below zero wind chills here, and colder at the minnow drop, I would have gone up there to kiss the minnow !
It always amuses me that there actually is a building in Eastport that is actually 3 stories high.
Thanks for the comment…enjoyed reading it.
Peace.

PS to julespaige
and, yes, I did feel better when I read they will plant a tree over “lucky”…
Around Father’s Day, I have a minnow story to tell…thanks for reminding me.
Peace

yes, listening to New Year’s fireworks gives a
bad flashback to all those weapons used in 2012!
