On the Surry Road,
the snowman is almost nose to the snow !
It appears that the sun
softened the snow base
on one side of the snowman so he tilted.
The wind and cold weather
created ice over the body
of the snowman
so he looks he’s almost
a napping snowman now !

As I type, I am watching
the Green Bay Packers,
the team of my youth and heart,
and Minnesota Vikings, the team of my last
home before leaving home.  Go Packers !

Puddle by M.C. Escher
1952

Sunday Mini-Challenge

.

Our challenge is to view an artwork
and speak out about it through the medium of poetry.
For this purpose, Kerry O’Connor selected the
art of   M.C. Escher,
a Dutch Surrealist.
His subjects range from portraits, landscapes, city scapes
and he has a  style of optical art all his own

.

Ekphrasis is the graphic, often dramatic,
of a visual work of art.

Ekphrasis–Puddle by M.C. Escher 1952

walking
out of my flat,
gaze down…
go by,
turn around and go back.
.
the day looks so different
in a puddle …
like a puzzle piece missing
in the mat.
.
clear gray sky,
towering trees,
even the wrought iron
gate
at the entrance.
.
peaceful.
no hint of rain
or sun
or clouds.
just the sky,
with the trees.
.
quiet.
other people rush by
but don’t see
the best part of
the day
in the puddle.
.
magic.
It looks like a
magicians
illusion.

.
magic
for the soul

.

.

the imaginary garden with real toads

.
no script for one’s life

.
life   an  improvisation
.
surprises every day
.

.

yesterday frigid
.
see the beauty morning brought
.
trees sparkle on shore
