An unexpected moment
played on myself.
Petey, the dog, and Bret, the boy,
both energetic and full of fun.

I remember the moment,
there was only one chance
to get a photo of the two
of them together
…back before digital,
you took lots of photos
hoping some would come out.
…. you didn’t know if you
had any good photos or not
tell you picked them up
at the store.
.
Such excitement…
the photo came out !
I still sigh the moment
that the photo appears…
Petey and Bret were
companions playing
on base in Puerto Rico.
And then, the unexpected.
I notice:
Bret has Petey by the tail
to keep him in the photo !

Petey looks patient,
Bret looks proud.
Unexpected moment captured
back in the day.…
a boy and his dog,
a very understanding dog…
this is one of my absolute
favorite photos …
it still warms the cockles
of my heart !

Worry about those without a home,
or enough wood or oil to heat where they live,
…hope they find a place to stay..killer weather.
