Playa de Luquillo 'Playa Azul' there is a calm beach at the point in the distance

A beautiful sunny day in
San Juan.
A trip to the Rain Forest
and then to the lovely
white sand beach we’d
heard about.
.
The lush canopy of El Yunque
rainforest and beautiful with a
cascading waterfall that seemed
to come from the heavens.
.
Then it was on to Luqullo beach…
crescent beach, white sands, palm
trees, and turquoise water.
Gorgeous,  Absolutely gorgeous.
My son grabbed his bucket and
shovel and started to dig
and fill his bucket.
What to our surprise,
beneath the surface
tar.
Someone created a beach,
tarred the shore, and hauled
in humungous
amounts of sand !

For fun on the surface ☺

=======================
Information from personal conversations
and Bangor Daily News article Aug. 10, 2002.
Many years ago I met Stan Neptune
and his family at the Common Ground Fair
in Windsor, Maine.  I own a couple of his
walking sticks with his eel mark carved.
