I lost 15 feet off the top of this tree during Plato, after I wrote the haiku !

We haven’t had enough snow to have a named storm. Though you mentioned an ice storm in ’98 – I think that’s when we had a blizzard here. At least two feet of snow – up to my knees in the middle of the street.
Hope you are keeping safe and warm. 🙂

We’ve seemed to hit the last two storms…and here will hopefully be on the outer edge of Q2 and just get a couple of inches of snow. The ice storm of 98 was horrendous…I drove 26 miles back and forth to work in Bangor in darkness and ice…one light that I can still remember the road it was on in the middle of no where. Some people were without power for up to a month and the facility I worked at, let people come in and shower and eat at no charge…the breakroom always had a crockpot of soup, or something hot and other goodies … a real kindness to the staff and communitiesaround Bangor. It was fierce and beautiful at the same time.
I am safe and warm and shelter near by if I would need it, but this storm should be a “wash” here but in southern Maine and the interior, maybe different.
Thanks for your comment and good wishes.

I didn’t know they named winter storms, too! I really like this one — reminded me of our winters here at their worst.

I like the idea…this way all the storms in one winter don’t blend in together like one big one! The ice storm of ’98 is when I realized that winter storms should have their own identity like hurricanes but never thought it would happen. I even don’t care if the names are silly … which reminds me… I was going to goggle and find out the theory behind the storm names.
Thanks for the comment

klrs09….ps
I googled naming winter storms … the Weather Channel has a good article on it including all the names for this year … in a condensed version,
.
“The channel’s comically vague explanation of its process says it will assess “several variables” before naming “noteworthy” storms – including whether they affect rush hour. The alleged benefits presented by the network include ease of “hashtagging” on Twitter…
This isn’t much of a bid for gravitas, and the Weather Channel’s choice of storm names doesn’t help. A good portion of its list – including Gandolf, Khan, Rocky, and Yogi – consists of names closely associated with characters from science fiction, popular movies, and cartoons.”

I love the alliteration!

Mama Zen,
Thanks for the comment… had to go back and check…didn’t realize I’d had any alliterations… love seeing them myself.

I bet it is still a good shape, even so.

The change of color in each line adds another layer/dimension to your words and image. The complete package. Cool!

Very scary and cold and beautiful all at the same time. Your simplicity of words to convey what you do is amazing. I did not know winter storms had names. Love learning new things, too.

othermary, thank you for the comment on the color…I never know if it adds or distracts.
Peace.
