Last night a little after midnight I wrote:

I cannot believe 1000 posts…since June 5, 2011…less than 2 years.

Thank you to those who subscribe to my blog…I never dreamed of
.
having people other than a friend or two take the time to read what
.
I write.
.
In the 1,000 posts I have learned so much about writing and about
.
sharing what I write without analyzing if it will be liked or not.
.
.
The above I wrote early this morning, planning to finish and post
.
when I got home from Somesville, painting with the artist group,
.
Vagabonds.
.
I had planned a different post for this momentous event for me.
.
The events of theday in Boston have changed this.

.
I wrote, when I got home shortly after hearing the news from a friend,
.
with a few corrections here for clarity, but still raw as it was originally
.
…imperfect from the shock:

In Maine,

the sun is shining
.
birds are singing.
.
We turn on the tv
.
and find out that
.
a few hours away,
.
terrorists have struck
.
again.

.
What is this world
.
coming to …
.
peaceful runners,
.
joyful spectators,
.
maimed injured,
.
or dead,
.
runners
.
just trying to do
.
their personal best,
.
spectators there
.
to cheer them
.
as they arrive at the
.
Finnish Line,
.
on a Spring Day.

.
Thoughts and prayers
.
to the families of those

who died or are injured.
.
To the runners
.
and spectators who
.
witnessed this horrific

event.
.
My condolences to
.
all involved.

My heart and soul are wounded. They hurt deeply. I have tears with mournful sighs.

All is not right in my world.

All is not right in the world of those in Boston and the world today.

The Laughing Housewife
Such a terrible, senseless event. Our thoughts are with Americans and everyone affected.

Tilly,
Thank you for your compassionate words.
There seems to be more people than we will ever know who have their own agenda’s to harm people vs peace and love in their hearts. I can’t imagine anyone getting joy out of maiming and killing for any reason.

You put wonderful words to this horrible tragedy, Siggi. I’ve been too stunned to even do that. But reading your words echoed some of my feelings. To think of the dead, one a little boy and those maimed for life, just too hard to even get my mind around at this point.

Evi,
Thank you for your kindness…am still a bit shocky, and I know I was sort of on automatic pilot when I type it out.
For this post, I don’t have the onlookers racing which I think I did the first draft. Everyone I know that was at the race has been accounted for…one would have been on his way back to Maine…he would have been near the front of the pack if he was there.
You remind me that it stays on my mind about the young boy, and the people who have all the leg injuries. It seems sadistic that the bomb was one that specifically would have done a lot of injuries to the legs.

Very moving, piece, Sigrid. Thank you for expressing the feelings we are feeling. I totally agree with you last line, what is wrong, what is wrong? I might wish to add, can we ever make it right again?

Pam,
My first experience with terrorism/protests was the mid sixties living in Japan. It was mostly the protestors against the police…but I got in the middle of a protest driving one day and the police escorted me sternly to the base in Yokohama…I was to stay until they said it was okay to leave. They were dressed like in the movies…covered in metal face masks, armored cars/tanks etc. Surreal. Then, on to Puerto Rico…and it was dangerous there for Americans because were Americans and no other reason. I went back home til I could live on base…too dangerous to live out in the community. I have very strong opinions about what is wrong…but no ideas how to fix any of them. Children who are raised in war zones, that is all they know. My step-grandson and his sister are from Liberia and some of what I have developed opinions on is based on that.
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate your words. There is always HOPE we can make it right, we cannot give up, in my opinion.
Peace
Siggi

It is heartbreaking indeed. There will always be people who will choose to do evil than good. But I know that there are more people who will choose to do good. They will make the difference in our world. God bless those who suffered today.

Thank you Imelda
for your wonderful response. My son is a marathon runner and while he wasn’t there, friends ran…all were safe, one crossed the finish line just as the bomb went off.
I feel so sad for the people who died or were injured.
Peace,
Siggi
