The Mummification of a Wealthy Egyptian.

 .

The body of the deceased is anointed with expensive oils and scents.  Care was taken

to be sure the body would not be damaged with the use of wine and special oils.

Elaborate rituals take place to preserve the body  and magical acts happened to assure

the family that the person’s soul would be reunited with the body in the afterlife.

Embalmers and assistants were an important part of the ceremony

The body was colored with a golden resin to protect the body from bacteria and insects.

Culture believed that divine beings had flesh of gold.

As a priest recited prayers, the body was wrapped with amulets in bandages, incense burning.

The deceased is then taken to the burial site, more incense burned, and prayers said.
