heavenhappens,
plein aire painters enjoy painting outside…any weather, but usually sunny and lovely days. You see them out with their easels painting in cities, beaches and in the middle of fields, usually spotted by their umbrellas attached to their easels..
Thank you for your question. We were painting on the shore of a small island, Little Deer Isle with a view of Pumpkin Island light house.
Peace
Siggi
Thank you for that explanation! My mum, sadly deceased used to paint outside in good weather. She painted wonderful landscapes and I kept some when she died. Your painting spot sounds idyllic x

The sky first thing was gorgeous…the clouds a gift of beauty to the already scenic spot. Later the sky was clear with occasional wisps of clouds.
Reshma,
Indeed, a picnic lunch…an impromptu picnic lunch…we travel long distances as a rule and started bringing a lunch right at the beginning of the group, the Vagabonds, about ten years ago. The furthest traveler that day traveled about an hour and a half each way. It was an hour for me.
Alice,
Lunch is a good way to get to know each other…we live long distances from each other and often don’t see each other other than painting times. Lunch is always a pleasant way to end a session before the drive home.
Your sister is a member of a unique world wide community of painters.
Yes. They drive to meet one another. I was once a member of such a group. We would drive and meet in very lovely places and bring picnics. Life changed after kids came along. I miss both the community and the communion with the landscape. All the best. Alice 🙂
Maggie Grace,
It is a unique term that often artists don’t even know. It’s a lovely way to spend a day, alone or with a group like the vagabonds.
Thank you for your comment.
