What gets my heart beating
…. knowing the day is full
of surprises, or not.
.
.
Three nights I go to sleep
knowing when the sun rises
off a painting I will go.
It will be either one of the
nine to throw away
or the one A-HA painting
that keeps the muse flowing.
.
.
My blood keeps flowing
as the words flow out
of my pudgy fingers
from my aging mind …
got to get them all out …
but the void fills again at
night…with more to write
and lots to say.
.
.
My muzzles have died,
I have no fears any more.
I live to say what I need
to say, to paint what I need
to record.
I’ve lived long enough
to be a problem to my kids.
Wish I could be here
in the end … to see them
figure out who that woman
they called MuM
really was.

I love a day full of surprises ~ And continue to keep yourself busy and engaging ~ Your children will eventually find out the woman behind the MUM ~ Take care ~

Unlike you, I’m not a problem for my kids ~~ YET. And it would be tons of fun watching them deal with what I leave behind. Your poem struck a chord. Loved it.

Helen Dehner,
I am a problem to my kids because I insist on living alone even though I have a history of falling….all my life I have fallen, but at a “certain age” it is alarming to others.
Thank you for your comment…appreciate you taking the time to visit and reply.

Yes, at a certain point, if we’re lucky, there just isn’t that much that scares us anymore, and as a result, we’re free to be and say and create what we please. (and to wear ensembles that embarrass our children!)

coalblack,
I am lucky in the respect that my children have always thought I dressed like a “hippy”
because I like Birkenstocks, long skirts and bright colors. I never had to worry about
my daughter borrowing my clothes ☺
As for what I write and create, so far, no problems.
Thank you for your comment,
Peace,
Siggi
