Sand beach in Acadia National Park
is not like the beaches of my youth
and early adulthood.  The water is
cold like the water of my memories
of  Northern Wisconsin/Minnesota.
Dash in quickly is the rule.
It IS the sand of my children’s youth
and a place of beauty.  The beach is
tucked inside walls of gorgeous pink
granite that appears red when wet.
The “sand” is made of shell fragments
that were created by pounding surf.
