Thunder Hole in Morning Light  Flickr – Photo Sharing!www.flickr.com

.

A favorite nearby spot I like to visit  ~ when the waters are churned
by a storm and it’s half way to a high tide.    Timing is everything.
.
Thunder Hole is a small inlet, naturally carved out of the rocks,

where the waves roll into.    At the end of this inlet, down low,
is a small cavern where, when the rush of the wave arrives,
air and water is forced out like a loud clap of distant thunder.
Water may spout as high as 40 feet with a thunderous roar!
Hence the name: Thunder Hole.

Carpe Diem #265, Eagle’s Flight

.

I didn’t post for Eagle’s Flight…I thought
this is a perfect place to post it and share
with you.  We often see eagles flying over
the ocean, or sitting in the trees looking
for their next meal near the library
where the plein aire painters gather in
Somesville, Maine.
