Photo: Terraces of Huayna Picchu in Peru

Huayna Picchu Terraces

Photograph by Kee Woo Rhee, My Shot

Terraces are carved high on Huayna Picchu. For decades Machu Picchu was a puzzle for archaeologists and historians. A 16th-century legal document and studies of the site’s architecture and artifacts in the latter 20th century have suggested a mountaintop retreat for Inca ruler Pachacutec Inca Yupanqui.

My darling Bianca after she had lost over ten pounds.

Sometimes her touch meant she wanted something …

this looks like “I need you to hold me”

even though she didn’t like to be held by me most

of the time.

The photo seems to fit the prompt.

Prompt:

‘touched

I swore I wasn’t going to be a crazy cat lady.

My sweet Bianca recently passed away

on October 19.

I could have sworn a few nights ago

I felt the touch of her nose on my toe…

my foot over the edge of the raised footrest

of the recliner.

She used to do that as she went by close

to the chair so I couldn’t see her.

My WASP MASK
photo  US Geological Survey’s
fantastic Macro photos of insects and
butterflies…awesome.
=======================================

.

.

How many masks
can one wear ?
More than enough
to fool many of the people.
.
One for work.
one for home…
friends who only see
you away from work,
wonder where the “other me” is
that others see behind
a mask.
.
My children
both see a different MuM,
just like my brother
and I…
we both seem to be
only children,
not recognizing the truth
of the home
and parents
we grew up with.
.
My parents masks
are puzzling now…
I wish I’d seen
and got to know
the “real” people
behind their
parent masks.
.
The mask
for family far away..
.
The mask my parents saw,
I don’t recognize at all.
Perceptions and wishful think
for a child that didn’t
exist in me…
make a mask
that is curious to me…
but
made sense to them.
.
Am I organized or not.
Commanding presence
of a leader,
or mousy
and a follower bee.
Worker bee
or Queen bee…
hmmm.
.
Self confident
or agoraphobic …
the second is a mask
that is getting a grip
that needs to be loosened.
Quiet soft spoken
or loud and boisterous
….happy
or sad and depressed.
.
City mouse
or country mouse.
Only the Shadow knows
which mask I wear today
and why
.
.
.
You are among toads
“Think as I think,” said a man,
“or you are abominably wicked;
you are a toad.”
And after I thought of it,
I said, “I will, then, be a toad.”

This “Little Ones” episode

is about the Burmese poetry form ‘Thanbauk’.

It consists of three lines of four syllables each.

Traditionally, they are full of humour.

It also has a rhyme in it.

The rhyme is on the fourth syllable of the first line,

the third syllable of the second,

and on the second syllable of the third.

I tried for “Thanbauk” form, without the humor.
