usually while asking for money

sidewalk hostess each corner
sailors tattoos glow

Summer time fun
fortunes told in the park
crystal ball tells all *

*gypsies used to show up
in Bar Harbor every summer
to tell the rich tourists their
fortunes and find their own
fortunes in many ways

summer nights
music sounds o’er the ocean
Flash in the Pan *

Every Monday night, the Flash in Pan
steel drums play for the street dance in
Deer Isle Maine at the ocean’s edge

.

circus acts on main street
still remember
smell of elephants breath

.

.
11 biscuitbumped head
boat house door too low
son of a biscuit !

Grandma’s rule
Bakewell Cream * a must
tall fluffy biscuits

.
* Bakewell Cream,
a traditional New England leavening agent,
makes biscuits rise high

14 betrayalco-workers with goals
self serving energies
back stabbing

bedroom eyes
fancy come hither words
date from hell

country summer
bike on dirt road
over hill and dale

training wheels
dad running along side
then he let go

Christmas delight
bike under tree ~ waiting
snow to melt faster

snowy North
studded snow tires
biker’s wish

.
Wisconsin winter
toddler rides trike in house
down cellar stairs *

.

* not only did I do it
once, I did it twice…
trap door in floor to
cellar stairs made for
easy access and speedy
ride (I didn’t get hurt
either time)

Fourth of July
Bikes with colored streamers
Carmen Miranda

in the summer, on the Forth of July,
at Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin,
there’d be a parade with decorated bikes
and kids in costumes.  
One year, a cousin dressed up as
Carmen Miranda, had real fruit in
her turban…ate the grapes as she
paraded
.

“baby” * brother dies
middle sis distraught the loss
joins him days later*

about my mother at age 92 
and her youngest brother in his 80s
 
new baby brother 
sister in tears all day
wanted puppy
 
sis wanted puppy
didn’t speak to brother
 calls him “only child” *
 
* I still call us “only children” ☺

invisible friend
