Last summer at the Town Line
(Deer Isle/Stonington) pond.
Ames Pond is a pond so huge
I can’t get all of it in one photo…
this is a tiny pond with lots to see
and dream on.

April 1 prompt:  lily buoys – art by Gary Blankenship and Sigrid Saradunn

In mid-February I picked up a simple drawing program for the Kindle, which has led to oodles of sketches to accompany poetry at this and other sites.  Near the beginning of march, I did three sketches of water lilies and one of dragonflies and the like.  Member Sigrid Saradum (who we used in the Man in the Hat prompt) does a buoy for the Penobscot East Resource Center each year.  The action benefits Maine fisheries and fish, especially lobster.  She asked if she could use by art for a buoy.  How could I say no? She has been working during March to construct our “water lilies” buoy  –   including the marsh/water background.  Below are three pictures of the nearly finished buoy – 99%.  What are your crafts/art/charities?   What does the lilies and critters tell your tanka?

You can bid, $100 minimum.  The auction is in August.  Don’t worry, there will be plenty of information on bidding before then.

And another thanks to Sigrid for honoring my humble art.
