Note
It took one marriage to understand the relationship
of Jackie and Audrey on the Honeymooner’s.
I never had seen any couple remotely like them
in my life experience.
When it came to my own marriage, I had to learn
to speak up, but it was too late for that marriage
to succeed.

prompt: a place you inhabit when you are not there: “visiting yourself”

.

Yesterday after the beautiful haiku event,
we stopped at the Colonnade Art Gallery in Pasadena.
To visit our friends at the opening of an exhibit,
and also to “visit myself”.
My haiga art, images, and journals there while I am gone

How have you created a physical space
that you can be “visited’ in this way?
I am thinking of a temporary or permanent location,
where, for at least a time, your presence is felt,
when you are not there?
What tangible spaces do you create,
or inhabit that “embody” yourself ?
Where can you “visit yourself” in this way?
Your garden?
Of course there is the “book”
which is of course a tangible object
where you can visit yourself.
Even a journal publication make tangible the experiences )
Often we’ve left markers in places,
carvings in a tree or sidewalk,
that we can revisit, art objects,
and even our old homes,
(even without a plaque,
can be known and visited by others)
When we create a public space,
like my daughter’s spa in Santa Barbara,
“Colleen Elizabeth” –she can be visited there…
and visit herself!
.
How do you create a physical space to represent you
when you are not there?
Are their favorite places others have created
that embody and carry their “presence”
that especially impress you?
How would you like to do it,
even if not yet done?
Can you embody it with specifics in your tanka?
