mindful
dreams

OctPoWriMo 2015….Day 7

What I wish was different

if wishes were horses
my father’d say
then beggars would ride
If wishes of old ladies were like the breeze
I’d feel as young as my mind says I am
.
the bittersweet of aging
the loss of function for myself,
the loss of friends I thought would always be there
wishing they could be here just a day longer
fond memories to cherish to the end of my day
.
the knowledge I have now…
the tasks of growing and living wisely
I wish I’d known much sooner
not to be ~ as others say
good and otherwise serve me well
.

if wishes were horses,
we’d all ride into the sunset as one
daisy chains in our hair
singing about the changing times
saving the earth and its people

 .
The colors of the leaves changed from pretty to gorgeous and awesome.. glowing today.
We started with a surprise at First Impressions and Nancy King surprised by her first appointment Sarah Dunn !
.
Then to Moore School for a tour by Joan Preble and meeting MuM’s writing group and Malissa the yoga/fitness instructor who whipped MuM into shape for the visit
.
Lunch at Martha’s our own tradition of eating there for Mother’s Day for breakfast.
We had lunch and each had a BLT … a favorite of my Mother’s.  At the Jordan Pond House,
we had one of my mother’s favorite treats, popovers, which she learned to perfect making
at home.
Shopped at Reny’s a Maine establishment for souvenirs and headed off to MDI again.
We drove around the perimeter of Mount Desert Island today…
BarHarbor to Manset.

.
Stacey walked down to the base of the steps at Bass Harbor Lighthouse and and down to the keeper’s house.  It was quite the walk for her, but she accomplished it in fine style even in
the rain.
.
We visited the the Swan’s Island Ferry terminal in Bass Harbor and then to Manset and to Seal Cove … places that I travel to but Stacey lived in Bar Harbor and these were mostly new sights to her… and and then home.
,
Joan, a close friend, stopped by and brought Stacey some treasures to take back with her and
the three of us had a wonderful time talking and marveling how Joan has been a part of our lives our entire time in Maine (1971)
.
Dinner tonight at China Hill with friends.
The rain continued to drizzle all day with downpours in Bar Harbor.

The weather didn’t stop us from having fun…
.
This brings us to the end of the 3 day whirlwind visit to relieve the homesickness of
my daughter.  I think the trips down memory lane helped us both… and we agreed
that five years was too long to be apart.

Monday Stacey and MuM travel Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor)

October 12, 2015
We had a delicious breakfast at the Riverside Cafe…Stacey had blueberry pancakes and
I had lobster Benedict.. YUM-MO!
.
We then proceeded to take a leaf peeping tour and erase the homesickness blues of Stacey,
of Mount Desert Island (MDI ).
.
We stopped in Somesville, at the iconic white bridge and then across the street to the
Somesville library to say hello to the Vagabonds, a bi-weekly group of painters that is
blessed to be able to refresh our spirits, and paint year ’round.
.
Next, to Asticou Gardens to take some photos and then down the road a piece to Seal Harbor
and a walk on the beach… the weather was perfect and the atmosphere sunny and healing.

The entrance to Acadia National Park is next to the parking lot and we headed to
Jordan Pond House for Popovers and tea…sitting outside with the iconic view.   A tradition
for decades to have tea and popovers here.

.
Cadillac Mt.Summit was next and it was not too crowded (in other words, there were still a few parking spots here and there !  I was able to walk the short way to the summit thanks
to a handicap path that did not have steps that was created for walkers and wheelchairs, and
anyone who could not handle the steps.
.
Sand Beach was the next stop… a high on the “to do” list for my daughter who took her shoes off and let the gentle waves wash over her feet as she walked along the beach.
.
We stopped then at Thunder Hole even though it wasn’t “thundering” (tide needs to be coming in and at the right level to make the tremendous “boom”).  It was a wonderful stop … as we were standing soaking in the ambiance, an eagle soared over our heads.
.
Cool as A Moose in Bar Harbor was our last stop before heading home and dinner at  Governors Restaurant, Ellsworth.

I know I haven’t posted for two weeks… part of the time was getting

ready for my daughter, Stacey, who lives in Grapevine, TX, to visit

for 3 days…. after a five plus years absence (June 15, 2010 ).  Getting

myself healed from a foot spasm that caused my ambulation to be

limited.  And then, the visit and a couple of days of rest afterwards.

.

Sunday with Stacey in Maine 2015

October 11, 2015
We started with church at St. Dunstan’s.. Stacey was kind enough to come with me even tho she had changed churches which was part of her transformation in 2010. People who knew her and the girls were pleased to see her.. it is too bad that both services were at the same time.
.
We met friends of hers for lunch at Jordan’s Snack Bar… a wonderful time … lovely couple. The food was good and the atmosphere there is always fun.
It is too
We then took off for the Beach in Lamoine, but I wanted to get Stacey some Maine Sea Salt … so headed for a small detour to the goat cheese place .. Seal Cove Farm
they were out of the salt.. but I had not opened mine from the last trip “just in case” and told Stacey she could make her own Maine sea salt water to dip her toes in anytime she was homesick for the sea.
.
She walked on the beach, remembering having been there and then a few miles away, to Lamoine.. her favorite spiritual beach to walk on.
.
A quick stop at Walmart to introduce her to Tom, the blueberry man who wanted to meet her.
THEN on the way home wanted to show Stacey a road change that cut off a way to a friend of hers we found out. My friend Freda lives less than 10 miles from there so since the road was no longer full of potholes, and recently paved called to be sure Freda was home and made a quick trip there.
.
Not finished ! At home rested for a bit and then after a quick stop for a mini-nap, went out to Pat’s Pizza… ten minutes from home… a tasty Hawaiian pizza.
.
Stacey had some phone troubles… a new phone ..
called and found out the towers here weren’t set up for a phone like hers….
a P.S..after Sunday,
her phone worked in all the “normal” places people receive phone service/wifi.
.
Stacey went out with her friends in Bangor at Karaoke ..
A wonderful day for both of us.

OctPoWriMo 2015 Day 2

Here’s an exercise for you. Go to one of your favorite movie scenes or music video (I tend to think the ones with no dialogue are better for this), captions off and mute. What do you feel? What can you write? Do you put words in their mouth? Is that laughter or something else?…. Morgan Dragonwillow
